1960s

Larrie Greenberg ’61 has just published a new book titled Misadventures in Patient Care and Medical Education: Lessons Learned for the Clinician Educator, released by Springer in 2025.

The book offers valuable insights drawn from real-life experiences in both clinical practice and medical education. Written for healthcare professionals, educators, and students, it shares practical lessons, challenges, and reflections that aim to improve patient care and the training of future clinicians.

*William Dais ’64 will begin his 61st year as an educator in Fall 2025, a remarkable milestone in a lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring. Over the course of his career, Fred served Springfield Schools for 33 years as a teacher, principal, and director of management services. He went on to spend 11 years as director of field experiences and assistant professor of education at Carson-Newman University.

1980s

Dr. Ashley Fernandes ’89 professor of pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, was honored with the OSU Dean’s Excellence Award as Distinguished Clinical Science Educator in March 2025. In April 2025, Dr. Fernandes was also elected national co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association’s Bioethics Special Interest Group, further reflecting his leadership in advancing pediatric ethics and education on a national level.

David Mruzek ’83 was awarded the Collegiate Educator of Excellence award by the Indiana Music Education Association, recognizing his outstanding contributions to music education. A composer and arranger, he has written over 30 pieces for concert band and numerous works for clarinet choir.

1990s

Laura Gilmore ’90 was recently named Nursing Programs Administrator at North Central State College in Mansfield, Ohio. In her leadership role, she oversees the Practical Nursing, Associate Degree Nursing, and post-licensure BSN programs. Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Toledo before going on to complete both her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice.

2000s

Travis Lynn Rhoades ’04 is P.E., a proud alumnus of The University of Toledo College of Engineering, has been awarded Fellow Membership status by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), a prestigious distinction held by only 1% of NSPE members nationwide.

Rhoades has been elected vice president of legislative and government affairs for the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), where he will help shape public policy and advocacy efforts on behalf of the profession.

2010s

Megan Anson ’18 and her husband, Jacob, opened up Brazen Bagels inside the parts and service department at Village Ford in Dearborn.

They started with just $3,000, a few basic supplies, and a shared love for good bagels.
