Your Alma Mater / Reflecting on 2023

By Laurie Davis

To say this year has flown by would be an understatement. From celebrating 150 years of The University of Toledo, to hosting more than 400 fans at the Toledo Rockets vs Ohio State Buckeyes pregame party, to our annual meeting, there was no shortage of excitement and engagement amongst our alumni.

Here are a few highlights of what has taken place in the last 12 months:

  • The Alumni Association and its affiliates hosted 186 events this fiscal year*, a 17.7% increase from the previous year.
  • Events were hosted in 20 cities throughout the U.S.
  • 26.3% of our events were hosted outside of the Toledo area, while 7.5% were held virtually.
  • More than 12,200 alumni and friends attended at least one of the 186 events.
  • In January, we created the Alumni Engagement Fund to support our work to stay connected with you. We have raised more than $28,500 so far. Thank you!!
  • We awarded $75,800 in scholarships to current UToledo students, a 5.6% increase from last year.
  • 280 alumni volunteered to handwrite postcards to prospective UToledo students, a 22.8% increase over last year and the most volunteers ever for this effort.

This is a small glimpse into the comprehensive approach we take to stay connected with you and with current students – our future alumni. Much of what we accomplish is through the generous support of alumni and donors. Please consider a contribution to help us continue to set the standard for alumni engagement for years to come.

Stay safe, stay well, and thank you for your continued support!  Go Rockets!
