Your Alma Mater / A Time to Come Home

By WILLIAM L. PIERCE ’99, ’09

If you are like me, you have very fond memories of your time at The University of Toledo. Whether you commuted or lived on campus (I lived in the Quad for four years), there are surely experiences you recall that tug at your emotions. Those memories will forever keep you connected to our alma mater and the many people that we met here. Because of this, many of us consider “UT”, or “TU” depending on when you were here, home. A place where we learned, laughed, cried, grew up, were taught life lessons and prepared ourselves for the “real world.”

Homecoming is a time-honored tradition at colleges and universities around the country.  It’s a time for Rockets to come back and reminisce about the good ol’ days of being a student, walking across Centennial Mall, cutting through the Field House to shield yourself from the winter elements on your way to the Student Union, the dining halls and the many people we met from all over the world, many of whom are still close to us today.

As we celebrate 150 years of our University, I invite you back to campus this year to join in on the celebrations, to walk down memory lane and help our alma mater prepare for the next 150 years. Go Rockets!
