Katherin P. (Johnstone) Hinrichs, Woodville, Ohio, 75. She worked in Research and Sponsored Programs at MCO from 1989 to 2002.
Dr. John R. Klocinski (Bus ’82, MEd ’88, Ed Spec ’89, Ed Spec ’89, Ph.D. ’99), Toledo, 70. He taught at the University.
Dr. Daniel A. Koechel, Toledo, 81. He joined MCO as a postdoctoral fellow in 1969 and became a faculty member two years later. For 31 consecutive years, he was a recipient of the Robert T. Tidrick Golden Award for outstanding teaching. His research focused on renal pharmacology and toxicology and was supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association.
Deborah M. “Deb” (Gillingham) Leonard, Toledo, 65. She joined the MCO police force in 1976 and retired as a University law enforcement officer in 2010. Leonard then volunteered with the Satellites Auxiliary.
**Dr. George J. Murnen (Eng ’57), Toledo, 91. He joined the faculty in 1958 as an assistant professor of civil engineering and was promoted to associate professor in 1969. For a time, Murnen served as acting chair of the Civil Engineering Department. He retired in 1993 and was named professor emeritus; Murnen continued to teach for several years.
Michael R. Pacholski (UTCTC ’80), Toledo, 73. He was a former UTMC employee.
Dr. Donald C. Stolberg, Stone Mountain, Ga., 91. He joined the University as an assistant professor of physical education in 1963 and was promoted to professor in 1969 Stolberg was the first chair of the Department of Recreation and Leisure Education from 1971 to 1975. During that time, he helped develop an undergraduate degree program. He also served as associate director of the Division of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. Stolberg was named professor emeritus of exercise science and physical education when he retired in 1986. He continued to teach for a few years, co-wrote three books and was an award-winning wood-carving artist.
