Thank You for Supporting Your Alma Mater

By Dr. Gregory Postel

Rocket Nation,

I’m excited to introduce myself to you, our family of nearly 166,000 alumni around the world.

First, let me say how appreciative and humbled I am for the opportunity to lead The University of Toledo at this pivotal time. There are challenges facing UToledo during this next year, many of which are shared by universities across the country, but with your support I’m confident that we will meet these challenges and continue our positive momentum.

When I arrived here in July, the first thing I noticed was our resilience and commitment to ensuring student success in the coming year, even as we navigated uncharted waters. That energy and dedication helped fuel our Rocket Restart plan, which combined UToledo’s collective expertise in education and public health in real time to plan for a safe return to campus without compromising our academic mission.

We know this year will look different. We weren’t able to welcome you to campus for Art on the Mall this summer. There will not be a Homecoming celebration this fall. But we must remind ourselves that this is temporary. Until we can safely gather again, we will find creative ways to engage our students and alumni with virtual events. Please stay connected with your Alumni Association and your University of Toledo.

I am impressed with the mission of UToledo and the people of Rocket Nation. Having spent 25 years in higher education, education, community service, patient care and research are topics that I am passionate about. Working together, we can continue to advance these goals during these unprecedented times. For inspiration, I invite you to view the latest Annual Report highlighting what UToledo accomplished during 2019-20.
