Your Alma Mater / July-August 2020

By William L. Pierce

Fellow Alumni,

It is difficult to believe that we have eclipsed the halfway point of July.

William Pierce (Univ Coll ’99, MBA ’09)

Your Alumni Association has been hard at work conducting a communication audit to determine the best ways to communicate with you, developing a strategic plan that focuses on increasing engagement over the next three years, and actively planning virtual opportunities for you to engage with us, the University, and the more than 159,000 living alumni around the world. We hope to get back to in-person events soon but continue to be mindful of the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, students, alumni and community.

As I mentioned in the last edition of Your Alma Mater, our Alumni Association annually awards over $63,000 in scholarships to current UToledo students. Thanks to the generosity of our Association members, donors and friends, we collectively help UToledo students to focus more time on completing their education. It is our goal to increase scholarship support to over $100,000 annually within the next five years. Membership plays an important role in getting to such a milestone as a portion of membership dues are donated directly to the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. If you aren’t yet a member of the Alumni Association, I encourage you to join or renew today and help us reach our goal. Please feel free to share our goal with alumni who may not be members and encourage them to support our effort. In addition to countless benefits to alumni who join, the benefit of a scholarship to a deserving student may be all it will take to create another Rocket Alum.

We continue to welcome your feedback and ideas on how we can best support you and the alumni in your area. Please share your thoughts and suggestions by sending them to alumnirelations@utoledo.edu. We always look forward to hearing from you.

Stay safe! Go Rockets!
