UToledo Office of Admission Events Underway

By UToledo Office of Admission

Spring means event season in the Office of Admission! This year, the event season kicked off with the interviews for the Presidential Scholarship. Prospective awardees and their families traveled to campus to meet with faculty and current students while learning more about the opportunities available to them at UToledo. While the students were engaged on campus, their families were treated to a guided tour of the Toledo Museum of Art and the Caravaggio exhibit.

On March 12, the 21st annual Latino Youth Summit was held on campus. More than 400 students and guests attended! This was the largest event post-Covid. Through engaging workshops, inspiring speakers, and meaningful networking opportunities, The Latino Youth Summit provided resources and support, empowering future Rockets to pursue their dreams with confidence.

Next up, the attention turned to admitted students with regional admitted student events in Cleveland during the Cleveland Cavaliers game against Boston, and in Cincinnati and Columbus at Top Golf! These events allowed future Rockets and their families to socialize and mingle with current students and UToledo admission and orientation team members. The feedback from these events was fantastic! Students enjoyed getting to know their future classmates and a few even found their roommates.

On March 29, Preview Day brought 525 students and families to campus to explore all things UToledo. Guests were greeted by Rocket Alumni as they arrived at Doermann Theatre. A revised welcome program was developed, and the first-ever “UToledo Talks” provided a fun platform for current UToledo students to share their experiences as a Rocket. Overall, feedback from the event was incredibly positive, and the Admission Team is proud of the successful changes to the event format.

We held a successful Admitted Student Experience Day on campus on April 5 where 207 admitted students, along with their parents and influencers, explored their intended major with current students and faculty members. The day also included lunch with alumni volunteers, a resource fair, photos with Rocky and Rocksy, meetings with Financial Aid, and the opportunity to submit their enrollment deposit and sign up for New Student Orientation. Deposited students were celebrated with buttons proclaiming they are in their “Rocket Era” and yard signs.

To round out the spring event season, we are excited to celebrate local admitted students with a Toledo Mud Hens game on May 28 (a previous event in April was cancelled due to weather). This will give students an opportunity to meet their future classmates and connect with current students and staff from support services across campus. A UToledo celebrity will even throw out the first pitch!

The Office of Admission extends a heartfelt thank you to all our partners who have contributed to the successful events this spring!
