28th Annual Art on the Mall Gets Crafty

By Ansley Abrams-Frederick '92

It’s summertime and that means Art on the Mall! Join us to help celebrate our 28th year of fantastic artwork. Our outdoor, juried art show will take place on Sunday, July 25, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

New Location for 2021

This year, due to construction on Centennial Mall, we will host the event at the Center for Alumni and Donor Engagement (CADE), located at 4510 Dorr St., Toledo 43615, directly across the street from the Inverness Club. Click here for a map to Art on the Mall.

This free, public event features talented artists in a wide variety of media that include acrylic, glass, jewelry, mixed media, pen and ink, oil, photography, pottery, textile, watercolor, woodwork and more.

There will be something for everyone: Whether you are looking for a large piece for your garden, a gift for a loved one or the perfect piece of art to hang on your wall, you are sure to find it at Art on the Mall.

Additionally, the artists’ works will be juried by art-savvy representatives from the Detroit Institute of Art. Prizes will be granted to top artists and the highest award — the Alumni Association’s Best of Show — will be given to the best artist with an affiliation to the University: current students, faculty, staff, retirees, alumni or parents.

“Art on the Mall is a beautiful event where the campus, and this year, our beautiful CADE property, unite the world of art with our alumni and the community,” Michael Mikkonen, Art on the Mall volunteer

Food and Fun for Everyone

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase all day from Big C’s Smoked Barbeque, Karen Anne’s Kettle Corn, The Petite Fleet, Opa! Gyros, K & K Concessions, Jeanie’s Comfort Cuisine, Snowie Daze and Rosie’s Rolling Chef. We will have a large seating area with umbrella tables in front of our musical stage, where you can enjoy a snack while listening to some smooth jazz.

For those with little ones in tow, we encourage you to visit our Young Artist Area, where your budding artist can create their own artwork to take home. They can also try their hand at throwing pots with the students from the UToledo Ceramics Program, who will be creating pottery on-site.

Art on the Mall is supported by our generous community sponsors: WTOL 11, The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, iHeartRadio, Mail It Corporation and The University of Toledo Federal Credit Union.

Free parking will be available at the front of the property with golf cart shuttle service to transport guests and their purchases to and from the show if needed.
